The days seem to keep getting colder as winter sets in for the east of the country, according to weatherzone.com.au.
A cold front moved through VIC, TAS and NSW over Sunday and Monday, spreading a few showers and apline snowfalls. Behind the front, air has been very cold and very dry. This, combined with strong southerly winds, has brought a chilly day to many locations today.
Almost all towns across NSW were between 3 or 4 below the July average. Sydney Airport actually had its coldest day in 2 years, reaching only 13. In VIC, Falls Creek topped at -3 and Hotham at -4, both four below average and their coldest day in a year.
Townsville, on the northern QLD coast also had a cold day, reaching only 21, its coolest day in 13 months.
Tomorrow should see a return of cold temperatures with cool southerlies meeting the new day. Sydney's forecast is 16, but it could get even cooler.
