Chilly dawn Dawn Service for NSW

Chilly dawn Dawn Service for NSW
The bugle belted out the Last Post across NSW this morning, bringing forth one of the coldest dawns since last September. Among those that experienced their coldest morning since last spring were Coonabarabran falling to nine degrees, Lake Macquarie at seven degrees, Sydney at 13 degrees and Canterbury at a meager 9 degrees. Compared to yesterday, parts of the Hunter would have noticed a significant drop in how cool the night was - Cessnock, Gosford, Maitland and Newcastle were at least five degrees colder compared to yesterday morning. What's finally allowed for some decent autumnal cooling is a high pressure ridge that is dominating the eastern half of the nation. Dry, light northerly winds are filtering through much of the interior, bringing clear skies - a perfect recipe for the cool mornings. Under this ridge, thick fog also formed around Cooma and parts of the Illawarra, making for an mystic Dawn Service. Visibility fell to less than 100m at Goulburn, Moss Vale and Cooma airport. Clear skies and crisp mornings should continue across the majority of the state until about Friday, when a trough is likely to develop across the west.
