Capital cities' weekend weather

Ben Domensino
It will be a cool weekend for most Australians and wet for some, unless you live in Darwin. The air in southeast Australia will have a crisp feel this weekend due to a series of weak fronts. Adelaide and Melbourne will both see some showers on Saturday, with Hobart also expecting light showers in the morning. Sunday is likely to be drier for all three cities, although light southwest winds will ensure a cold morning followed by a chilly day. Canberra and Sydney will enjoy a dry and party cloudy Saturday after a cool morning. On Sunday, Sydney may record its first shower of the month as a trough moves through the city. Canberra should remain dry on Sunday but should drop below zero in the morning for the seventh day in a row. Brisbane or Perth would be a good pick for a weekend away, with both cities remaining dry and mostly sunny. Temperatures will climb into the low to mid 20s, just above average for this time of year. The weather winner by far this weekend will be Darwin. The Northern Territory's capital city will reach the low 30s under mostly sunny skies each day, thanks to a ridge of high pressure over the Top End.
