Canberra shaking and shivering
After a few cold mornings, the cold days have now started in the ACT.
Many people opted to stay in bed for a bit longer as Canberra dropped down to minus five on Sunday morning. During the day the mercury stopped at eight degrees, making Sunday the coldest June day in six years.
By Monday morning, it was a little easier to get up with temperatures around three degrees at 7am. The mercury since hasn't shifted much throughout the day, remaining in the single figures until early this afternoon, maintaining conditions well below the 12 degree average for Canberra in June.
As the high builds and the cloud breaks up, cold mornings are back on the cards again. On Tuesday and Wednesday morning, overnight temperatures will return once again into the negative territory, with severe frost a risk. Thankfully, daytime temperatures will remain near the average.
A cold front looks to arrive to the southeast late on Thursday. This front will bring showers and gusty winds. However, this system also brings the chance for some more snow on the Brindabellas, just in time for the weekend.
