Bundaberg is waking up to its coldest August morning temperature in more than 50 years.

The mercury dipped to 3.3 degrees just after 4:00am (AEST) today.

The weather bureau's Michelle Berry says it is cold right across the Wide Bay.

"So Kingaroy at the moment is on minus 3.9 - very, very cold through inland parts and that's their coldest August morning since 2008," she said.

"Then areas like Gympie, minus 0.4, so that's their coldest temperature for a year."
