Blustery change sweeps through the southeast
Josh Fisher

A front and trough swept across the country's southeast corner today, bringing gusty winds and drastic temperature drops.
The front pushed into western Victoria early this morning. It carried little moisture only bringing the odd light shower, but it was the winds that whipped up concern.
The northwesterly winds became strong ahead of the change that brought strong westerly winds. Mount William bared one of the strongest gusts at 100km/h.
As the front pushed east, the gusty northwest winds dragged in the interior's heat. This raised fire danger ratings with Geelong and Ballarat seeing gusts around 70km/h, temperatures in the low thirties and relative humidity below 20%. This combined to bring them their highest fire danger levels since March.
As the front progressed east it dropped temperatures by 10 degrees in just 10 minutes for Cerberus and Mentone. Frankston dropped five degrees in 10 minutes with a gust of 83km/h.
The front reached Melbourne around 3:00pm dropping the temperature from 32 to 26 degrees in just a half hour. Today was just a taste of the summer warmth before falling back to spring-like temperatures.
