Blizzard brings best snow yet
James Luffman

Blizzard conditions developed across Victorian and NSW ski resorts on Sunday, leaving a fresh cover of snow over a base more than a metre deep, according to weatherzone.com.au
A strong cold front approached the region during the weekend, dropping temperatures below minus two degrees and bringing gusts in excess of 95 km/h at the Victorian resort of Mount Hotham.
Blizzard conditions behind the front had produced more than 20 centimetres of fresh snow by early Sunday evening, with heavy snowfalls continuing in a cold and unstable westerly airstream.
The fresh snow lies over a deep base, which reached a season-high of 161cm at Charlotte Pass in the NSW ski fields on Saturday.
The snow forecast produced by weatherzone.com.au indicates the heavy falls will ease during Monday, with snow showers clearing up by Wednesday to provide some of the best snow conditions of the season thus far.
