Big wet to continue for WA
Southwestern parts of WA have been saturated over the last few days. The heaviest rain fell to 9am on Friday. The Southwest was hit the hardest with Bridgetown recording 53mm, Bunbury 48.4mm and Busselton 41.6mm. This is the heaviest rain for Bridgetown in over 12 years and heaviest April rain since 1998. For Bunbury and Busselton the 24 hour rain was the heaviest in April since 1996 and 1998 respectively. In the Lower West, Mandurah received 55.2mm to 9am on Friday the heaviest rain since 2012 and heaviest April rain in 7 years. Over the last five days Perth Airport recorded over 40mm with every day being wet. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ikola and a deep associated trough were the reason for the working weeks soggy conditions. Over the last 24 hours rain has eased although thunderstorms have become a greater risk. This morning a band of thunderstorms moving over the Goldfileds region became severe with heavy rain. Kalgoorlie felt the brunt of these storms with over 11mm falling in less than 3 hours. Thunderstorms and showers remain a risk over southern parts of the state for the duration of the weekend. Ikola will move out of the region on Monday, although the associated trough will continue to bring storms to WA's interior until next weekend.
