Another stormy week for NSW
New South Wales is set to see another thundery week, barely two weeks after some parts of the state experienced their stormiest start to summer on record.
In a setup similar to the start of summer, a low pressure trough will move into the state and stall, producing thunderstorms on every day throughout the week from Monday.
As the trough gains moisture, thunderstorms will gradually become more widespread and heavy throughout the week, and possibly more intense.
Thunderstorms will initially focus over central and southern parts of the state, before shifting to the northeast from Friday and into the weekend.
The storms will mean there will be some good follow up rain across the state, with some places already seeing a wetter summer than last.
Widespread totals from 20-40mm are likely by the end of the week anywhere east from the central inland. However, there is potential for much higher isolated totals with some places likely to pick up 100-150mm, most likely over the state's north and along the ranges.
This will include Christmas Day, which in recent years is gaining a reputation for being the bearer of good rain.
The trough should finally begin to break down from Monday week as a cold front pushes the trough out over the Tasman Sea.
