Wettest July day since 1998 -

Adelaide has had its wettest 24 hours for July since 1998.

Rainfall totalling 31 millimetres was recorded at the weather bureau at Kent Town.

The highest measured fall was 44 millimetres at suburban Greenacres.

Paul Bierman of the bureau said the rain was now likely to clear.

"The worst does appear to be over. That band of really heavy showers has now moved well away from Adelaide but there's still quite a bit of activity on the radar, so we are going to see a few showers this morning, easing during the morning and they should clear during the afternoon," he said.

The State Emergency Service has responded to dozens of calls about localised flooding across Adelaide and on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
