A wet start to the month in VIC

Josh Fisher
Even though the month of July is only a few days in, some places in Victoria have seen a quarter of their monthly rainfall, even more in some areas. This has come with a passing front and cold, gusty southwesterlies bringing persistant rain and showers. Wilsons Promontory has already received 121.4mm of rain this month, just shy of their average at 121.7mm. Melbourne typically has 15 days of rain in July, receiving 47.7mm but in just three days they have already received over one fifth of that amount at 10mm. In the ranges, Falls Creek received over half of their monthly rainfall of 81mm in just two days with 47mm mainly in the form of snow. Going into the weekend, showers will be easing tomorrow, contracting to the eastern coast and ranges by Sunday. A high will set in for the beginning of the week with drier condition.
