A touch of frost for southern QLD

A touch of frost for southern QLD
Despite being well away from the snowfalls of southern New South Wales and Victoria, Queensland has been brushed by the icy fingers of winter, five weeks out from the official start of the season. From Monday, cool and dry southerly winds crept into the Sunshine State, the remnants of the vigorous front that has brought heavy snowfalls to VIC and NSW over the last few days. Brisbane, this morning, had its coldest minimum of the year, and in fact since last October. The city dipped to 13 degrees, four below the April norm. Tomorrow is meant to get even cooler, chilling to an early morning minimum of 11. Across the Darling Downs, Maranoa and Channel Country, overnight temperatures were up to 13 below average. Stanthorpe was the frostiest around, plummeting to -0.5 degrees, ten below average. A high pressure ridge will continue to dominate the southern half of the state, allowing minimum temperatures of similar or colder value to hit the region. Residents are advised to wear a cardigan before leaving the house.
