A hint of things to come for southeastern Australia
Sam Terry

The first marks of a front forecast to hit the southeast late on wednesday have begun.
The top end of the front clipped southwest WA this morning, spreading a band of showers inland. So far the highest reported fall was in North Walpole, getting only 1.6 mm since 9am. These light showers will continue today and spread further east along the coast tomorrow.
Ahead of the front, winds have reached up to 145 kmh in Mt Wellington in Tasmania. The strongest winds seemed to have passed, but winds will remain onshore, maintaining showers, heaviest in the west and south. Since 9am, the highest rainfall picked up has been 4mm in Luncheon Hill. This should change with the passage of the front, with totals reaching 20mm in some places.
Tomorrow, the front splits, with the bottom half moving away. Another front will converge with the top of the first front, and should hit SA tomorrow evening.
