A change on the way for the southeast

A change on the way for the southeast
Saturday is mostly sunny and warm for many places in southeast Australia, however a cold front will bring much different conditions come Sunday. As is normally the case ahead of a cold front, northwesterly winds today are bringing warm temperatures to most of the southeast, with mostly sunny skies overhead and all-round a pretty nice day. Hobart is likely to reach 25 degrees today, a lovely four degrees above average. Apart from the far northwest and south, most of Tasmania will reach the mid-twenties on Saturday. Melbourne will reach the low thirties on Saturday, and you don't have to go far north into Victoria to bask in temperatures in the mid-thirties. Up into New South Wales, Sydney is preparing for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, which will kick off around 7pm with a pleasant 25 degrees and mostly clear skies after reaching 28 degrees during the afternoon. The cold front will start to impact Hobart from early this afternoon with showers and gusty winds developing. Melbourne will feel the southerly change by early evening, although it looks to be a mostly dry one. Sunday in Hobart will only reach around 18 degrees, whilst Melbourne will be 10-11 degrees colder than Saturday. Luckily the festivities are tonight in Sydney as the southerly change will hit the city around 8am Sunday. Showers are possible later in the day, as well as a thunderstorm or two, however they will most likely be confined to the ranges. The temperature drop won't be as dramatic in Sydney on Sunday, reaching around 27 degrees. The cooler temperatures will occur from Monday and will last for most of the week as south-southeasterly winds and the odd shower limit the heating potential.
