$720K to help with flood clean-up

Thursday August 30, 2012 - 10:45 EST

The Corowa Shire Council has received $720,000 from the New South Wales Government to help with the clean-up after storms in March this year.

The Government says the Corowa Shire was one of many local government areas affected by the storms and flooding.

The money will be used to repair the Corowa aerodrome.

Corowa Shire Mayor Fred Longmire says the aerodrome was built during World War II.

"It doesn't get a lot of use at the moment but it's had a lot of use over time and so what's happened is back in March last year we had some inundation of floodwater across it or around it and everywhere else, so whilst it was still safe to use and everything else like that, it still needed some repair work," he said.
