A soaking for New South Wales South East
In the past 24 hours, parts of the South Coast have needed more than umbrella.
Since 9am Tuesday, Ulladulla has received 127mm of rain as of 6pm. Some of this rain came in thick and fast, with 12 millimetres falling in ten minutes. Although this pales in comparison to the 233 millimetres, which fell only two years ago during October at Ulladulla.
Further north, Lake Conjola, saw close to 100 millimetres falling over the space of two hours this afternoon.
Overnight, Narooma picked up 127mm to 9am Tuesday, recording the heaviest October rain in rain in 38 years, with another 70 millimeters added to the gauge during today. Other notable totals were at Barlows Bay (153mm), Regatta Point (126mm) and Central Tilba (118mm). Merrimbula and Bombala also saw the heavivest October falls in nine years, with 39mm and 30mm respectively.
As the southerly burst pushed its way along the coast, a 104km/h gust was recorded at 4:30pm at Ulladulla, with gusty conditions continuing into the evening, averaging 70-90km/h. As the southerly winds worked up the coast, 80km/h winds have been recorded at Jervis Bay and Kiama this evening, with the winds set to rattle the winds for Sydneysiders later tonight and into early tomorrow.
